Recently, The
Kalgidhar Society hosted a two-day seminar-cum-conference on Punjabi Language & Literature at Baru Sahib. The seminar was
inaugurated by Jathedar Joginder Singh
Ji Vedanti, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Amritsar. S. Charanjit Singh Ji Chadha, Chief Khalsa Diwan
Amritsar, also graced the occasion.
The guests were accorded a warm welcome on their arrival in 'The Valley of Divine Peace' by Baba Iqbal
Singh Ji and Sadh Sangat present on the occasion. Later, the guests were honored by presenting them Siropas in Darbar Sahib. They also joined the students of Akal Academy Baru Sahib reciting Nitnem in the ambrosial hours. Jathedar Vedanti was greatly impressed by the performance of the students when they enthralled the audience with the rendering of spiritual music on stringed musical instruments (Tanti Saaz). The students also apprised the sangat with the valuable information about the Tanti Saaz. Later, the guests also enjoyed the display of Sikh Martial Arts (Gatka) by the students of Akal Academy.
Over 150 delegates from Himachal, Haryana and Punjab participated in the seminar. The purpose of the seminar was to have a clear
understanding, pronunciation and writing of Punjabi language so that the essence of Gurbani could be properly understood and appreciated. Inaugurating the seminar, Jathedar Vedanti stressed
upon the need for purity in writing, pronunciation and
understanding of the language.
Giani Bharpur Singh Ji
conducted a 12-hour tutorial discussing the commonly used
words
and phrases from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to drive home the
point very effectively.
The participants thoroughly enjoyed the session and
promised to proliferate the correct usage of the
Punjabi language.
The seminar was a grand success. |
