The annual Sant Samagam in the sweet remembrance of Sant Attar Singh Ji was held at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi on 16-17 February, 2008.
On day one, the program began at 2.30 a.m. with Naam Simran followed by Sukhmani Sahib, Asa Di Var, Kirtan and Gurmat Vichar. The program concluded at 10.30 p.m. Similarly, on the second day, the program started at 2.30 a.m. and ended at 5.30 p.m. Amrit Sanchar was conducted on Sunday, 17 February at 10 a.m.
On both the days, a large number of devotees paid obeisance in the Samagam. The devotees paid rapt attention and enjoyed the heavenly bliss listening to spiritual discourses, preachings and devotional music rendered by famous Ragi Jathas and Dhadi Vaaran & Gurmat Sangeet by the students of Akal Academy - Baru Sahib on traditional string instruments (Tanti Saaz). Dr. Gurbakhsh Singh Ji Gill (USA) delivered lectures on both days recollecting his interactions with Sant Teja Singh Ji. The Ragi Jathas who rendered devotional music were Bhai Gurmej Singh Ji (Hazoori Ragi, Darbar Sahib, Amritsar), Bhai Gulbagh Singh Ji - Avtar Singh Ji, Bhai Guriqbal Singh Ji (Gurdwara Mata Kaulan Ji, Amritsar), Bhai Manjit Singh Ji Kanpuri, Bhai Hardeep Singh Ji, Bhai Kultar Singh Ji, Bhai Davinder Singh Ji (Sohana), Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji (Sri Nagar), Sant Narinjan Singh Ji - Pritam Singh Ji (Guru Ka Taal, Agra), Bibi Santosh Kaur Ji - Baba Nirmal Singh Ji (Bhaura Sahib, Hapur) and Sant Mittha Singh Ji (Bunga Mastuana, Damdama Sahib). Prof. Ram Singh Ji Kular ( Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana) also delivered lectures. The spiritual discourses were delivered by Giani Pinderpal Singh Ji on both the days.
A blood donation camp was also organized in which 52 devotees donated blood for the needy patients. In addition, 70 donors registered themselves for donating blood in any emergency in future.
A Pictorial Exhibition to depict the important events from the life history of Sant Attar Singh Ji and Sant Teja Singh Ji was held and a large quantity of Gurmat literature was obtained by the visiting devotees, including the ‘Jiwan Katha of Sant Attar Singh Ji, written by Sant Teja Singh Ji (in two volumes), ‘Sikh Sidhant’ written by Baba Iqbal Singh Ji. The latest events, including the commencement of construction and admission for junior classes in newly established academies, Akal College of Engineering & Technology, Akal Education Fund, Akal Rozgar Yojna, Academic performance of students, Youth Camps and the future projects of The Kalgidhar Trust were also displayed in the exhibition. The devotees thronged the Pictorial Exhibition where life history of Sant Attar Singh Ji and Sant Teja Singh Ji was displayed in Gurmukhi with relevant pictures. Many visitors were noticed taking notes from the exhibition.
This program has become a regular feature at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. Thousands of devotees hailing from different parts of India and abroad participated in this entirely spiritual function.
The Sant Samagam - 2008 concluded with saadh-bachan of revered Baba Iqbal Singh Ji at 5.30 p.m.
Prior to the main Samagam, the students of Akal Academy held two-week long morning/evening Diwans at various Gurdwaras of Delhi, in which thousands of devotees participated and attended the programs with great zeal and devotion.
