13th In-Service Refresher Course for teachers of Akal Academies began on 2nd June, 2006. 260 teachers and Principals of all academies reached Baru Sahib on 1st June 2006.
The course began with assembly of all (teachers, resource persons, etc.) in Darbar Sahib at 8.00 am on 2nd June. Ardas to Almighty for the success of the course was followed by an address by Dr. Gurbakhsh Singh who briefly told the gathering how Baru Sahib happened. He exhorted teachers to develop virtues and become role models for children to emulate and realize the dreams of Sant Attar Singh Ji of establishing permanent peace in the world.
The main objective of this course was to make the teachers, who are teaching in the academies located in very remote areas, aware of the latest developments in pedagogy, teaching methodology and approach towards children with learning disability. Moreover this gave an opportunity to the teachers to have a first-hand experience of Baru Sahib, the values it stands for and of course our mission of establishing permanent peace in the world through value-based education, i.e. combining spirituality with scientific education.
