These vans were specially put up with social messages graphically printed on them highlighting the present set of evils eroding the Sikh Samaaj. Not only Sikhs but also the local population applauded the novel approach of highlighting burning issues like Dowry, Female Foeticide and Drug-Addiction. In continuity, the solutions were also suggested like Sehaj Path, the role of mothers – Changeri Maa, Prachar Kive Kariye and Education for all. Numerous Gatka groups displayed their skills to the spectators. Kirtan jathas too were there in splendour, spreading the Guru’s word in lyrical compositions.
The rear of the holy procession was brought up by Guru Ji’s Palki Sahib decked up on the priceless antique Plymouth of Sant Teja Singh Ji. This vehicle was specially brought to this place all the way from Cheema ( Punjab) which is also Sant Attar Singh Ji’s birthplace. The whole Nagar Kirtan winded its way gradually through the tight roads of Meerut and the whole area seemed to come alive with chants of Satnaam Waheguru all along. The holy procession reached the beautifully decorated Gurdwara Thapar Nagar by late evening amidst thousands of Sadh Sangat eagerly waiting to pay homage to Guru Gobind Singh Ji with a unique pledge of starting Sehaj Path.
Mukh Sewadaar – Vir Jaivinder Singh of Cheema Sahib took over the proceedings at the Gurdwara hall wherein the Prakash of 25 Guru Granth Sahibs was a sight to behold. The enthusiasm of the local Sangat was infectious enough to melt the hearts of many present there and the list of people aspiring for Sehaj Path grew endlessly. One by one the Arambh of Sehaj Paths took place after the initial induction process was conducted by Jaivinder Singh Ji. Ardaas and Hukamnama followed the Arambhta. Within no time, the count went up to 250 Sehaj Paths. Sangat was overjoyed with the blissful sight of the fortunate-ones undertaking the course.
All and one truly felt that the right homage to Guru Sahib was initiated at Meerut and the fortunate-ones were witness to this. A righteous example was set for the rest of the
Sikh Jagat to follow.
