On
the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, a free medical camp for the rural,
poor and underprivileged people of the remote Himalayan region was organized by The Kalgidhar Society at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru
Sahib. This camp took place on 14 and 15 April, 2006 from 9.30 a.m.
to 1.30 p.m.
A team of 42 medical staff including specialist doctors from Delhi, Chandigarh, Patiala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar
volunteered their services for the needy patients. This team of doctors included ENT specialist,
Surgeon, Physician, Dental specialist, Child specialist, Psychiatrist, Gynaecologist,
Ortho specialist and Skin specialist. Different types of 88 surgeries were performed by the team of super specialist doctors in this camp. Nearly 2200 patients from the adjoining remote, hilly and backward areas within a radius of 100 Kms. attended this camp to avail the medical facilities. Hearing Aid machines
were also distributed by The Kalgidhar Society on this occasion.
