2nd EKAS Seminar conducted at Paschim Vihar, Delhi

 

The 2nd seminar of EKAS (Education Kar Seva mission of The Kalgidhar Society) was conducted at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi on May 27, 2006. The seminar was marked by the presence of more than 300 volunteers of different Sikh Organizations. The proceedings began with a presentation on 'Ardas' by Sikh Missionary College. It was followed by a presentation of The Kalgidhar Society by Mr. Rajinder Singh Chadha, Jt. Secretary, through which the audience was made acquainted with the onging philanthropic activities of the Society. Then the documentary "Stringing Pearls at Baru Sahib - The Valley of Divine Peace" was screened which was highly acclaimed by the Saadh Sangat. Mr. Jasbir Singh, a volunteer of the Society emphasized on the importance of Dasvandh for the welfare of the humanity. He exhorted the sangat to donate dasvandh for the philanthropic activities instead of donating it for unnecessary marble-fixing and gold palanquins in the Gurdwaras. The seminar came to the conclusion with the presentation of EKAS by Mr. Charanjeet Singh, a volunteer of The Kalgidhar Society.

EKAS is working in the filed of networking with other like-minded organizations motivating teachers, professionals and administrative staff to join or volunteer their services at Baru Sahib and other locations. This includes networking with professionals and experts in the fields of language, management, career counseling and sports etc. to motivate them to hold seminars, quiz and other competitions etc. at different Academies.


EKAS is also taking action:

  • To motivate medical fraternity to visit Akal Hospital, Baru Sahib on regular basis.
  • To initiate Scholarships with assistance from The Kalgidhar Society.
  • To coach bright students for various competitive entrance exams.
  • To arrange trips of youngsters to Baru Sahib for Gurmat Camps.
  • To start vocational training programs to generate employment.
  • To facilitate placement of youth - a bridge between the haves and the have-nots.
