A special samagam organized by Chief Khalsa Diwan, Amritsar was held at Guru Harkrishan Public School, GT Road, Amritsar, to celebrate the 351st Parkash Utsav of Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji on 29 July 2007. Baba Iqbal Singh Ji (President, The Kalgidhar Trust) and S. SS Kohli (former Chairman, Punjab and Sind Bank) were honored on this occasion.

S. Charanjit Singh Chadha, S. Joginder Singh Vedanti (Jathedar, Akal Takht), Head Granthi of Darbar Sahib, distinguished citizens of Amritsar, large number of school children and thousands of devotees attended the Samagam.

Shabad Kirtan by prominent Jathas of Sikh Panth, S. Guriqbal Singh, S. Davinder Singh Sodhi and Akal Academy Jatha mesmerized the congregation. S. Charanjit Singh Chadha welcomed Baba Iqbal Singh Ji and greatly appreciated the work done by The Kalgidhar Trust in providing value-based education to produce role models in the society. Sharing his experience of his recent visit to Baru Sahib, he said "Seeing was believing". He urged everyone present in the gathering to visit Baru Sahib to see for themselves the great missionary work being done by the Trust. He felt that it was his privilege to honor Baba Iqbal Singh Ji who was tirelessly carrying out selfless service to the Sikh Panth and upliftment of the rural masses. S.S. Kohli (former Chairman, Punjab & Sind Bank was also honored on the occasion. Siropas & Plaques were presented to Baba Iqbal Singh Ji & S. SS Kohli by Akal Takht Jathedar & Head Granthi, Darbar Sahib.

Addressing the huge gathering, Baba Ji, in all humility thanked Chief Khalsa Diwan for the honor bestowed upon him saying that he was not worthy of it. He said that it was the divine force of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Sant Attar Singh Ji, which was behind all activities of the Trust. Citing an example of the Jews, he said, "Minorities can only survive through quality. How a small community is ruling the world politically and economically is an example for us to emulate”. Punjab, he said, was passing through a critical phase where social evils were destroying the basic fabric of our great society. The education system was in a terrible shape with Punjab virtually at the bottom amongst other states. Only the path of value-based education shown by our Gurus and great visionary Saints like Sant Attar Singh Ji & Sant Teja Singh Ji could save Punjab. He recalled how Sant Attar Singh Ji set up a school for girls & opened several colleges nearly 100 years ago and had emphasized the need of blending spirituality with modern education.

He urged all concerned with future of Punjab, to join hands and work together. He deeply appreciated the great work being done by the Chief Khalsa Diwan in the Field of Education. He further stated that if the Punjabis wanted to be the share-holders of the flourishing Indian Economy, they could no longer afford to miss value-based education. He outlined the ‘Road Ahead’ of The Kalgidhar Trust to open nearly 150 Akal Academies, 6 professional colleges and nearly 25 colleges for women in the next 5 years. An Akal Education Fund was being set for this purpose. He requested all concerned with future of Punjab to contribute to save the Sikh community and Punjab.
