The
birth of Khalsa (Baisakhi) was celebrated on 14 April, 2006 by The
Kalgidhar Society at Baru Sahib with great fervour, enthusiasm and reverence.
The proceedings started at 12.30 a.m. with Nitnem, Sukhmani Sahib
and Asa Di Var. Recitation of Amrit Kirtan, Dhadi Varan, Sikh History
and Spiritual Discourses were performed from 7.30 a.m. to 12 Noon.
Ardas and Bhog took place at 12.30 p.m.
A religious procession
carrying Guru Granth Sahib in Palki Sahib started from village Machher
at 10.00 a.m and reached at Gurdwara
Baru Sahib at 12.30 p.m. This
procession included military bands, Gatka (Sikh Martial Arts), fireworks
and recitation of Gurbani Kirtan by the devotees. The famed wrestlers from
Sant Attar Singh Ji Akhara, Cheema Sahib performed wrestling
bouts at 2.00 p.m.
in the playground of Akal Academy, Baru Sahib.
