Baru Sahib - The Valley of Divine Peace, located in the underdeveloped region of Himachal Pradesh celebrated Vaisakhi with great devotion and enthusiasm. The three-day long program attracted thousands of devotees from all over the country and the local people to this remote Himalayan region.
The program began with the commencement of Akhand Path on 12 April, 2008. Gurmat Kirtan, Kavi Darbar, Katha and various religious activities continued on all the three days. On 14 April, there were over ten thousand devotees, who participated in the Nagar Kirtan, which was a grand event of the Vaisakhi celebrations. The mile-long procession included children from Akal Academy – Baru Sahib, Akal College of Engineering and Technology, Gurmat Vidyalaya (Girls), local school children and thousands of devotees. Boys and girls put up a thrilling performance of Gatka and martial arts with blindfolded daring acts. Girls of the Gurmat Vidyalaya presented a formal guard of honor supported by the musical band and Kirpans to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 91 volunteers were blessed with Amrit in the Amrit Sanchar ceremony organized on this auspicious occasion.
In the evening, there was a grand wrestling event, in which wrestlers of national and international repute from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi participated. Thousands of spectators were thrilled to watch the closely contested fights, which they had never seen earlier.
The Gurdwara complex was beautifully lighted and decorated. Guru Ka Langar continued round-the-clock with Gurbani Kirtan providing Divine peace and spiritual bliss.
The fortunate souls attending the Vaisakhi celebrations at Baru Sahib will cherish the blissful event for a very long time. |
