The students of Akal Academy Baru Sahib, in the guidance of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, were on an Educational-cum-Gurmat Parchar Tour of USA and Canada for 4 months. The duration of the tour was from 22nd March 2006 to 28th June 2006. Dr. Khem Singh Gill (Vice-President of The Kalgidhar Society) and Dr. Manmohan Singh Atwal (Director of Higher Education, The Kalgidhar Trust, USA) and other volunteers also accompanied the students.
This group visited different places in the United States including Washington DC, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Connecticut, Boston (Massachusetts, Cleveland (Ohio), Detroit (Michigan), Chicago (Wisconsin), Missouri, Oklahoma, Dallas (Texas), San Antonio, Houston (Texas), Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Pennsylvania. Many programs were held at various religious places/gurdwaras and residential places.
While on tour, Baba Iqbal Singh Ji (President, The Kalgidhar Society) visited many Universities like Cambridge University, Teachers’ College Columbia University, American University Campus in Washington DC and had meetings with many professors of different Universities. The purpose of this visit was to inspect the environment of the place where students of Akal Academy are being admitted for their higher education.
